The 2008 SMISS Board of Directors would like to whole heartedly thank all the attendees for their time and contributions that made SMISS 2008 the success it was. We look forward to seeing you at SMISS 2009!
The SMISS 2008 Annual Meeting was held at the beautiful Green Valley Ranch in Henderson, Nevada. The meeting brought together top orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons and other health professionals not only from the United States but also from Europe, Canada and Asia.
There were 2 days of intensive hands-on, cadaver based curriculum which served to benefit not only the experienced but also the beginning spine surgeon to minimally invasive spine surgery (MIS).
The scientific session, held on Friday, November 14, 2008, was the main highlight of the 3 day meeting. Attendees, both the experienced and novice surgeons, were introduced to emerging MIS technology advances, emerging new concepts and exploring future trends. Leaders in the MIS field presented the latest in minimally invasive techniques. Insights and tips of each technique were explained along with key indications. Cutting edge research was presented in both oral and poster formats from the participants. Considered one of the highlights of the scientific session by many of the attendees were the Case Discussions. Lastly, the one speaker who made all sit up and take note was Bill Paquin, CEO from SpineUniverse who had everyone’s ear and probably all their IT offices very busy the next Monday.
Although comments were heard such as “This is the best meeting yet” and “It will be hard to top this meeting NEXT year”, we hope you will join us for SMISS 2009. Details to follow soon; keep checking our website.
